5.7 Perl Poetry
As you saw earlier, it can be quite easy to write Perl that compiles and executes cleanly while also harboring some artistic value . . . however subjective. There is a recognized pastime of composing Perl prose like this, the definitive paper on which was written by Sharon Hopkins (http://www.wall.org/~sharon/plpaper.ps). Perl haiku contests pop up on the net and at Perl conferences, allowing more right-brain exercise for the creative programmer.
